Travel from Rome Ciampino Airport

Casperia is located about two hours from Ciampino airport, which is used by low-cost carriers, including Ryanair.

You can either travel to Casperia by coach and train or arrange to be collected. Travel by coach and train is in 4 steps.

Low-cost carriers sell tickets on-board for the coach service from Ciampino to the city centre which will drop you beside Roma Termini station.

Take the Metro ‘B’ undergound line from Termini to Tiburtina station (4 stops). Don’t forget to frank your ticket in the machine at the end of the platform before you board!

Take the train from Tiburtina to Poggio Mirteto Scalo on the Orte line. Trains leave every 30 minutes at 17 minutes and 47 minutes past the hour from 06.47 through 08.47 and 11.47 through 22.47 and take 48 minutes.

Take the local bus service from Poggio Mirteto Scalo station to Casperia which runs at 31 minutes past every hour from 12.31 to 20.31. Check with the bus driver that the waiting bus is for Casperia and then buy your ticket (€1.50) at the station bar. The driver will wait for you. 

Personal collection from Ciampino to Casperia

We can arrange a car to collect you at Ciampino at a cost of €130 for 1 person, €65/person for 2 people, €50/person for 3 people or €45/person for 4 or more. For this service please inform us of your flight, arrival date and time and the number of passengers one week before your departure, using the online form in the Info section of our web site. Having a mobile phone which works abroad is helpful, so that if the driver is delayed, our Italy office can contact you to let you know.

Travel from Rome Leonardo Da Vinci ('Fiumicino') Airport

Casperia is located about two hours from Rome's airports.

The cheapest and easiest way to reach us from Fiumicino Airport is by the frequent train service to Poggio Mirteto Scalo station. You can take trains which terminate at either Poggio Mirteto Scalo or Orte.

Trains leave the airport every 30 minutes at 27 and 57 minutes past the hour from 05.57 thru 07.57 and 10.57 thru 19.57, with a last train at 21.12, and
take 96 minutes. The train fare is around €11. Don’t forget to frank your ticket in the machine at the end of the platform before you board!

Take the local bus service from Poggio Mirteto Scalo station to Casperia which runs at 31 minutes past every hour from 12.31 to 20.31. Check with the bus driver that the waiting bus is for Casperia and then buy your ticket (€1.50) at the station bar. The driver will wait for you.


Meeting our representative in Casperia

If you have a mobile phone please call or text 0039 339 7043595 or 0039 331 2038167 when you are on the bus from Poggio Mirteto station, or 15 minutes before you arrive.

When you arrive in Casperia’s square please wait at the little Blue Bar for Sunflower Retreats’ representative to greet you and take you to your accommodation. If you do not have a mobile phone, please go to the Blue Bar and ask for Sunflower Retreats or Alan Scheda and the bar staff will contact our representative for you. If necessary, your luggage can be brought up to your accommodation for you by a member of our staff.

If you are delayed or you need to arrive later than 5pm, it is important to call us, either before or on the day of arrival, to tell us what time you expect to arrive. If we do not hear from you by 5pm, our staff may assume that you are not arriving. 

Collection from (and to) Poggio Mirteto Station

If you are arriving by train and would like to be picked-up by car at Poggio Mirteto Scalo for the 15Km journey to Casperia, please telephone our Italian office and leave a message on one of the following numbers to let us know the time of the train you are catching so that we can collect you.

The cost for this service is €10 per-person on Wenesdays and Thursdays and €15 per-person on other days. 


Travelling from Casperia to your airport.

A continental breakfast is served at 08:45 on Mondays and Wednesdays for departing guests.

We run a free transport service to Poggio Mirteto station at 09.00 which arrives in time to catch the 09:40 train which terminates at Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) airport at 11:18.
If you have an early flight, there are trains from Poggio Mirteto as from as early as 04:55.
If you wish to go to Poggio Mirteto later than 09.00, then our transport is available at a cost of £15 per-person.

The trains on this line all stop at Roma Tiburtina station, from which you can take the Metro to Roma Termini where you will find shuttle buses to Ciampino airport.

You can check train services on Trenitalia’s web site - www.trenitalia.com -  selecting English and using ‘poggio mirteto’ and ‘ umicino aeroporto’ or ‘roma tiburtina’ as your stations.

Guests arriving for short breaks starting on days other than Thursday, or leaving other than Wednesday, will need to take the bus from the station to Casperia or can book a car at a cost of €15 per-person.
